Knollwood Country Club diners in Granger are evacuated
Sat. Nov 21st 2009

GRANGER -- Twenty people dining at Knollwood Country Club were evacuated midmeal Friday evening after a manager smelled an electrical fire in the clubhouse, officials said.

Five fire engines and two ladder trucks swarmed the country club, in the 16000 block of Baywood Lane, around 9:15 p.m.

Officials had not determined the cause of the odor by 9:45 p.m.

“There was no active fire or sign of smoke,” said Fire Marshal Dave Cheronne of Clay Township Fire Territory.

Firefighters from Clay Township, the University of Notre Dame, Niles, and Harris Township responded, Cheronne said.

He said the large response was normal for a building of Knollwood’s size.
